Celebrating the Sacraments in the Catholic Church at Xavier High School. Xavier High School offers students an opportunity to explore and to become initiated into the Catholic Faith.
It also offers a program by which they can prepare for the Sacraments.
Participation in a Sacramental program at Xavier is a pivotal journey in a student’s spiritual growth and development. However, the significance and effectiveness of this journey are greatly amplified when students are supported by their parents or carers.
The role of parents or carers in a student’s Sacramental journey cannot be overstated. They serve as pillars of support, guiding their children through the process with love, encouragement, and spiritual wisdom. By actively engaging in their child’s Sacramental education, parents or carers not only deepen their own understanding of the faith but also create a nurturing environment where their children feel empowered and inspired to explore their spirituality.
Effective communication between students and key figures within the Sacramental program is essential for a meaningful and enriching experience. Students are encouraged to openly express their desires, questions, and concerns to their teachers, the Director of Faith and Mission, and their local priest. This open dialogue fosters a sense of trust and collaboration, ensuring that each student’s unique spiritual needs are met with understanding and compassion.

A person seeking to join the Catholic Church is usually initiated through the three Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist and the ideal time for this is at Easter. However, it can take place at any time as necessary.
Students seeking the Sacraments are invited to enrol in a preparation program which will be run in conjunction with Parishes. Details will be available at the beginning of each year from the school and/or Parish office. If already Baptised, a copy of the Baptismal Certificate is to be obtained.
If your child has been Baptised in the Catholic Faith you have already begun preparations for their receipt of the Sacraments of Reconciliation, Eucharist and Confirmation. From the moment of their birth you have shared your Faith with them in your love, words, actions and prayers. This is an essential component in their faith formation.
